The 2027 call for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship is open. Here is who can benefit, what it pays, and why your French university must submit the file before 6 January 2027.
The France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Programme, run by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and managed by Campus France, has opened its 2027 call for applications. It is designed for international students who want to follow a master's degree (including engineering programmes) or a doctorate in a joint-supervision or dual-degree arrangement with a partner institution abroad at a French institution. According to the 2027 rules, the priority fields are Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and Digital Technology, Engineering Sciences, French History, Language and Civilization, Law and Political Science, and Economics and Management. Campus France states that candidates should be up to 29 years old for a master's and up to 35 for a doctorate, and the programme targets future decision-makers in the public and private sectors.
The scholarship pays a monthly allowance of €1,200 for master's students and €2,000 for doctoral students (rates effective 1 January 2026). It also includes airfare in the least expensive class, reimbursed up to 50% of the ministry's maximum rate for the country concerned, plus a temporary health insurance plan until French social security coverage begins. Tuition fees are not covered, except for certain national degrees or the engineer's diploma at public institutions. Studies must start between 1 September and 30 November of the award year, and the start date cannot be postponed. Master's awards run for up to 24 months (M1), 12 months (M2) or 36 months for engineering programmes, while doctoral awards run for 12, 18 or 36 months.
The most important rule is that you cannot apply on your own: only French higher education institutions can submit applications, and files sent directly by students or by foreign institutions are declared ineligible. Start by contacting the international relations office of the French university or school you want to join, and ask for its internal deadline and documents. Campus France must receive the institutions' applications by 6 January 2027 inclusive, so internal deadlines will be earlier, and results are due from 12 April 2027. Details were checked on 31 October 2026 on the official Campus France site; read the full 2027 rules and the student guidance at https://www.campusfrance.org/en/eiffel-scholarship-program-of-excellence before you prepare your file.
