NASA's Anil Menon and the CSA's Joshua Kutryk stepped outside the International Space Station on Thursday to install and deploy a new roll-out solar array on the 2A power channel.

NASA astronaut Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk began a spacewalk at 7:57 a.m. EDT on Thursday, 29 October 2026, exiting through the International Space Station airlock. According to NASA, their task is to install and deploy an ISS Roll-Out Solar Array, known as IROSA, on the station's 2A electrical power channel.

Mission managers had given the go for the excursion, which will place the new array on the port-side truss structure. NASA describes the work as part of an upgrade to the station's power generation system. In the days before the spacewalk, the Expedition 75 crew carried out spacesuit checks, trained on the station's robotic arms and worked through a schedule that also included 3D bioprinting and other research.

The video attached to this article is Reuters' live stream of the spacewalk, published on the agency's official YouTube channel, and shows live coverage of the event rather than archival or promotional footage. NASA is also streaming the spacewalk. At the time of writing, the outcome of the excursion, including whether the array was fully installed and how long the work took, had not been confirmed, and details should be checked against NASA's official updates.
